FAQs
Do I need to make a reservation?
No. Athens Gun Club is a completely public range with no reservations available. It is all first come, first serve.
What firearms can be shot here?
Handguns, Rifles, and Shotguns are authorized to be shot here. You can use FRTs, NFA items, and registered MG’s as long as the staff determine you are safe with your handling and usage. We restrict shotguns to only 00 buck and slugs no matter the gauge, and we do not allow any Green Tip (Light Armor Piercing), Black Tip (Armor Piercing), or tracer ammunition and will check. We are rated up to a .50 BMG.
What are the transfer fees?
Non-NFA items such as handguns, rifles, shotguns, receivers, are to be $35.00 per item. NFA items such as suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, Machine Guns, will be $75.00 and are processed through SilencerShop utilizing our kiosk.
What do I need to bring with me?
All shooters need to have a valid, government-issued ID with them. This can include a state-issued driver’s license, identification card, carry permit, or passport. We hold ID’s for payment so please do not rely on your CAC, agency ID, or any other form of work-related ID as we will not accept those. Firearms, Eye and Ear Protection, and everything else needed to utilize the range can either be rented or purchased from our pro-shop.
What is your age restriction, or who can bring me?
Any minor, an individual under the age of 18, must be accompanied by Mom or Dad ONLY. We do not have a set age restriction, however, the individual must be able to safely manipulate and utilize a firearm ABOVE the bench (4ft 5in) without assistance from an object or person. Handgun rentals are restricted to individuals 21 years of age or older. Ammo for these items is also restricted to 21 years of age.
